Just entered in to the Communication Arts 2012 Typography Contest.
This contest allowed me the opportunity to finish up a design idea that was on the backburner for awhile. The nature of the project is a typeface tattoo design. This type of design is called an ambigram.
“I think, therefore I exist”
An ambigram is a word or phrase of type that displays a word one way, but if you change the perspective or rotate the image at the center, another word can be seen. Often, an ambigram is comprised of one word that can be seen from two perspectives.
Descartes’ “I think, therefore I exist” quote was a guiding motivation which drove the ‘functionality’ of this graphic.
