Head:
Infinite, the endless loop of time and space as we know it, is symbolized as a sideways 8 and is appropriately the core feature of the owl’s head. The eyes are a simplified version of the Spiral of Archimedes and give off a “hypnotic” effect. The beak, a triangle, represents knowledge. Upside down, it references arcane or hidden knowledge. The brows, embellishing the eyes, are inspired by a geometrical shape called a Euclidean Spiral, with directions mirrored and spaced horizontally. The nautilus-like shape is also known as the Golden Ratio.
Body:
The “DO” serves a dual purpose. For one, the negative space around the letters are the breast and body of the owl. “Do” is an command type word, and in this particular series, they are two letters that appear in meaDOwfire’s text logo. The actual letters themselves are the “wings” of the owl, and as a whole, they appear to give a faux isometric, or dimensional view.
The Match:
The match that is being held by the owl’s left, or “O-wing,” is portrayed as a lowercase “i.” When the “i” is designed in other formats, such as a blue or white “i” in a circle, universally it is known as the pictogram for “information,” specifically, public information regarding news, publications or even an emblem at a kiosk in an unfamiliar environment. The match bisects the O, which as displayed, also indicates the universal symbol for “no” or unlawful activity, such as No U-Turn and No Smoking. The hidden meaning behind this design is in fact the equivalent of “knowledge hidden, or outlawed to the common man.” Think of it as if a “little birdie” is here to tell you something.
Talons:
My original design featured an upside down horseshoe (for good luck) that encompassed the perimeter of the owl, featurinf a different style of feet. The final logo has two sets of 3 “horseshoes” that are actually 2 sets of the numerical value “33,” rotated counter clockwise 90 degrees, with the duplicate pair mirrored vertically. The larger of the two “∩” shapes are overlapped. The number 33 is of significance in mathematics and the occult.
Right Wing:
Appearing on your left, the owl’s right wing, accomplice to the “D-wing,” is designed to lend it a more dimensional perspective. The feather-like lines recreate again, the Golden Ratio, while also giving a sense of motion and fluidity. The major circles represent the core members of the band, and the minor circles are just a touch.
